Whether you are training for a race, looking for a way to manage stress, or suffer from chronic pain, therapeutic massage can help.
My approach to massage therapy is rooted in the profound benefits of relaxation. Many people, especially these days, have a chronically engaged sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight). This chronic activation is called the "stress response". Fight or flight is a useful reaction (when encountering a bear, for example!) but it does little good when it's switched on all the time. One way to counteract the stress response is to engage the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) by doing peaceful things...like getting a massage!
