Therapeutic relaxation for improved health and wellbeing.

My approach to massage therapy is rooted in the profound benefits of relaxation.  Many people, especially these days, have a chronically engaged sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight).  This chronic activation is called the stress response.  Fight or flight is a useful reaction (when encountering a bear, for example!) but does little good when it's switched on all the time...in fact, it can cause chronic pain, anxiety, tension, and illness.  One way to counteract the stress response is to engage the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) by doing restorative things...things like massage therapy!
